SEASON WRAP-UP

After a false start to the season due to COVID, we came back to start training in early July, unfortunately without 2 players who decided not to return due to the shortened season.

Our early efforts once the season started were brave but unfortunately we were on the wrong side of some lopsided scorelines.

After week three, with a little bit more time for the team to get used to playing together, we started to right the ship and went on a run of wins for the rest of the year barring one close defeat.

Most pleasing for me was seeing the team and individuals improve and understand their roles as the season progressed.

From Dylan in goals through to Ethan, Trey, Alex and the ever improving Ken our defence was solid and they certainly made our opposition earn any goals we did concede.

Our hardworking midfielders in Madi, Alex, Jack, Marshall and Zac - all of who changed their favoured positions at different points through the season (which will hopefully give them a better

understanding of the game), drove the team forward and maintained team structure which in turn, lead to each of them getting their fair share of goals as well.

Spencer and Gurshan shared the responsibility of being our strikers for the majority of the season and developed throughout the year.

Highlight game for Spencer was his game against Terrigal where everything he struck seemed to go in on the day.

Gurshan’s progression was pleasing to see and towards the end of the year his link up play with his team mates was a standout.

I thank the team for their efforts this year in what has been the strangest year of football in my 35 years involved in the game and I hope they all enjoyed their football and their season.
