SEASON WRAP-UP
This year I had the privilege of coaching the Wyoming U13CS, a team containing a core group of kids who have played together for a few years now.
Our record this year was 8 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses, but these are just numbers. They can't tell you of our defensive line up that consists of Mikaylee, Darcy A., Darcy C. and Xayne. They have worked so well together this year that they almost have a secret language that kept almost all screamers from crossing our goal. I can't thank them enough for this year- defense wins games, and it did!!
Jack Whyte and Aston Wilkinson were our Centre mids who had the uncanny presence to be everywhere when they were needed, putting their bodies on the line week in, week out.
Josh Gamble is our quiet achiever who can play anywhere on the field, and did this year with great skill. Jade Panui and Jess Dowling were our wingers this season, Jade scored her first goal which was a beauty (just ask her) and Jess scored a miracle goal to give us a 1-0 win over Gosford.
Jacob McBride joined our team half way through our season, his football skill and knowledge and great sense of timing were greatly appreciated.
Cameron Elturk re-joined the Wyoming Tigers after a few years absence and improved every week, his stand out game was against East Gosford when he played out of his skin.
This leaves our two strikers, Ben Arigho and Zach Humphris. Ben scored 20 goals, enough said! Zach is poetry in motion and when he goes for a goal everybody stops to take notice.
Last Saturday 24/10/20 we played in our first major semi against Southern Ettalong, after a tough match in driving rain we lost 2-1.This score in no way reflects the effort and toughness on display, we pushed Southern Ettalong to the edge and narrowly missed out on a GF. I can't thank the parents, aunts and uncles, nans and pops, siblings and caregivers who came out to support our team this year. Now boys and girls of the Wyoming Tigers 13CS, we have some unfinished business to take care of next year-see you there!
