SEASON WRAP

What a great 2020 season our Wyoming FC under 12A have had. I feel that even with the difficulty of COVID impacting we started the year really well winning all our early games and taking a commanding lead on the table.
Unfortunately for Wyoming the competition was restarted due to some teams being removed and others added. Our season opener game now was against Terrigal FC at home. The boys won that game against Terrigal United 1-0 giving us a great start to 2020.
There are many memorable moments from this season for us to be proud of here are a few we overcame:
- Wyoming started the season very well taking all points on offer in all matches however the draw was uneven and all points were removed as new teams were added to even up the competition.
- Each team played each other once and then in the final two rounds each team replayed two teams. Wyoming drew the two teams sitting in first and second place in the final two rounds of the league. Other teams above us had less intensive opposition for these two extra games making it tough for us to gain ground and move into the top four.
- We barely played at home with Wyoming FC playing 8 away games and 2 home games in total so most of the season was playing away.
- Wyoming FC entered the last three rounds outside the top 4 sitting in fifth place. They climbed into top 4 and maintained that by beating the team coming first ultimately costing that team the League title.
- Wyoming entered the semifinals in forth place and played the team in first place and defeated them.
- Wyoming FC played the Semi Final with extra time winning this game in the first period of extra time.
- Wyoming FC entered the second consecutive Grand Final after making it last year in the under 11As but unfortunately losing.
- Wyoming FC entered the Grand Final from forth place, they eliminated the first placed team then played the second placed team and won the Grand Final after extra time and Penalties.
- We had several players out injured throughout the season in key games and were playing a very tight competition with support from u11s.
A great season for the 12A’s on a learning year where they converted to the big field, added new players and roles to the team, and progressed confidently throughout the season.
What a year and looking forward to playing in 2021 as Champions!
Massive Thankyou to Wyoming FC for the support.
I would really like to thank Ryan for sharing his patience, enthusiasm, knowledge of the game and skills with our boys making them better and stronger each time they played.

GRAND FINAL
vs EAST GOSFORD
WON 4-3
The 2020 Grand Final for the 12A’s was played and won at the Central Coast Stadium, Gosford. Both the Tigers and the Rams were excited and settled into the match early with both teams taking shots at goal.
Wyoming and East Gosford continued to attack each other with furious passing and though balls throughout both halves. Both teams played a clean, fast and fair football brand and at the end of the game both teams still had not scored.
This was a game that went end to end with loads of chances for both teams but great defensive efforts stopped both from scoring. There was excellent goal keeping from both keepers throughout the match and during the shootout of course.
Wyoming FC scored a late goal however the linesman and referee discussed the goal and ruled the goal to be offside. Extra time commenced and both periods of extra time expired with both teams exhausted after putting in 100% effort.
Full time in extra time after 10 mins each way and no change in Golden Goal so the game was over.
The final result will come from a penalty shootout. All five players from Wyoming FC were identified and all five kickers were used.
Wyoming took an early lead as our Wyoming FC goalkeeper dived and saved the first shot from the East Gosford striker. Wyoming then converted our shot putting Wyoming FC In front from the start of the shootout.
Wyoming took all 5 kicks and won the shootout 4-3 and claimed the title for 2020 as Champions.
Awesome experience for our 12A’s playing at the stadium, using the change rooms and having such a great supporter base ‘the eye of the tiger’ not to mention the support, training and knowledge of the game from our super coach Ryan Marshall.
Well done boys now we can have a few Saturday’s off then come back next year for more fun! It is a shame the result had to come from a shootout however what a great 2020 football competition in such a difficult year!!
Final Score in 2020 12A Grand Final Wyoming FC - 4 defeated East Gosford FC - 3
East Gosford and Wyoming FC had only played once previously in this year with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

SEMI FINAL
vs TERRIGAL
WON 1-0
The finals are here and Wyoming finished in 4th place and play 1st place Terrigal United for a place in the Grand Final against East Gosford.
This was a epic battle of a game played on the Main pitch at Pluim Park. Wyoming FC had a better first half than Terrigal did with more possession and shots on target from Wyoming FC.
A very loud supporter crew Wyoming FC “eye of the tiger” kept the boys firing and they went to half time at 0-0.
The second half was becoming more and more intense as it headed toward golden goal as it was still nil all at full time.Terrigal had some chances early in the half however Wyoming hounded the goals for a period the Terrigal were camped in the Wyoming box for at least 5 mins with attack after attack being defended by Wyoming FC. The final score at full time was 0-0 and that meant that the teams were to take a few mins break then head into extra time Golden Goal.
Terrigal immediately attempted to run through the Wyoming team and were stopped by our midfield and again the game went end to end over and over for the first seven minutes of the half.
With 3 mins remaining in the first period Terrigal got a great break and ran through a gap and had clear chance to score however the midfielder passed the ball to an off side player who then scored and the goal was disallowed.
Wyoming took the free kick and a Terrigal player took out a Wyoming player who was going for the ball just over half way and Wyoming set up for a free kick.
All Wyoming players expect defence moved to the box and Wyoming took a huge free kick which landed in the box and In the confusion the keeper didn’t see the ball coming and it went straight into the goal with Wyoming winning the game and heading into the Grand Final the following week against East Gosford!!!
Final Score in Extra Time, Wyoming FC 1 - Terrigal United 0
Wyoming will now play in the Grand Final at Central Coast Stadium against East Gosford.

ROUND #11
vs KINCUMBER
WON 2-1
Well the last round is here and very important game for the top 6 teams who can all make the final 4. Wyoming FC started the game in 4th place sitting in the last semi final spot but needed to win to keep this.
Kincumber started the game in first place on the table and can be named 12A League winners if they win today. Wyoming got stuck into the game plan of very tight defence of the strikers and coverage of attacks via the keeper kick outs. Wyoming took a lead in the first half and maintained possession and really made it difficult for Kincumber to have the ball and worked really hard on the coach’s game plan. Kincumber continued to press for a goal however this allowed Wyoming to get in behind and score a second goal and keep the pressure up. Kincumber scored a late goal however Wyoming FC had secured the win and an entry into the 2020 finals.

ROUND #10
vs TERRIGAL
LOST 0-4
Wyoming started the game strong pinning Terrigal in their half for the first 5 minutes of the game.
The game started out with both teams in first place with two rounds to go. Both started the game really well with Wyoming FC really having more shots and possession however couldn’t convert this to goals going to halftime at 0-0. Terrigal were very aggressive in the second half with the tackling making more impact on the Wyoming players and continued to disrupt the flow of passing out wide. The weather was really bad with huge wind gusts and both teams struggled with this.
Terrigal secured two quick second half goals and with little time left Wyoming were unable to reel in the goals and conceded two more taking the final score to 4-0.
This was a tough result for the boys after working so hard to get into the top 4. The result has left Wyoming in 4th place by 1 point meaning they must beat Kincumber FC who was now in first place with Terrigal United.

ROUND #9
vs WOONGARRAH (AWAY)
WON 5-1
Another game on the road this week v Woongarah FC. This was another tough match with Woongarah defending well in the first half and making Wyoming fight for every ball. Wyoming worked very hard to take a 1-0 lead during the first half and then increased this to 3-0 by half time. Woongarah did not give up and scored a goal soon after halftime and both teams battled for the second half with Wyoming finally taking control of the game and scoring two more goals taking the game to a 5-1 score line. This was a difficult game which the score does not reflect and also promoted Wyoming FC from fifth place to equal first place on the table with two rounds remaining. Our focus this week was to not let any lead slip and starve the opposition of the ball.

ROUND #8
vs TUGGERAH (AWAY)
WON 4-1
Wyoming played Tuggerah away and after a quick goal soon after kick off they got into a nice flow and went ahead 1-0. Wyoming held majority of the ball possession during the first half and were able to have a nice lead 3-0 at half time. In the second half Tuggerah settled more on the ball and scored a goal however Wyoming continued to pressure on the ball and use the width of the field to breakthrough and scoring another goal making the final score 4-1.
The team was focussed on defence and offside opportunities this week and how we can use offside to our advantage. Great result and much needed points heading towards the 2020 finals.

ROUND #7
vs KANWAL (AWAY)
WON 4-1
Another away game at Kanwal saw us take on a team that was also in need of points for the semi finals. Wyoming started really strong snagging two quick goals and putting Kanwal on the back foot. Wyoming settled into a passing pattern and kept working the sideline space and had quite a few shots on goal.
Kanwal utilised a fast kick out play from the goal keeper who kicked the ball close to halfway and the Kanwal striker ran onto the ball running away with it hammering it into the net.
Kanwal used this move several times however we were able to defend and did not concede any further goals after the first goal was scored.
The Tigers took charge and continued to and attack Kanwal scoring two more goals and keeping possession really well closing out the match. Great game Tigers and much needed 3 points.

vs OURIMBAH (ALAN DAVIDSON OVAL)
WON 4-0
Wyoming played a well balanced game keeping possession of the ball and keeping Ourimbah pinned in their own half. Wyoming took the lead early and applied more pressure with great passing up the line and through the midfield. The focus for today was to hold the midfield and use the wings and not concede any goals. Wyoming played very well in the second half with Ourimbah trying very hard to break through however Wyoming kept them scoreless. A solid 4-0 win from Wyoming keeping them mid table and only a few points from the leaders.
