ROUND #5 (MAY 11, 2019)
vs THE ENTRANCE 2

Our Under 5 Starfish players have been running themselves ragged over the past few games. Round 5 saw them up against some worthy opponents with The Entrance bringing their star players out and having enough subs to substitute the whole team each time…….meanwhile, our four mighty players stayed on the field the entire game. Where were our other players you may well ask? Well, our fifth little star player Ghana Boadu has decided that her skills are best kept to the sidelines…..she got up bright and early and turned up to the game and did an amazing job at cheering on her team mates whilst all the time remaining incognito in a gorgeous outfit that in no way resembled a Tigers jersey and shorts. The other team had no clue she could run on at any time……luckily for them she didn’t! Unfortunately for us though, Ghana’s now retired her little soccer boots, having tried really hard all season – we wish you all the best Ghana!!

Meanwhile, back on the field……all was going really well (unless you were keeping score and on the Tigers side). Our little champions were doing their utmost to tackle, weave and dribble their way across the field in the hopes of scoring. Just when we thought we would surely have this game in the bag……The Entrance brought out their secret weapon……a bee was released onto the field and found its way to Charlie ‘I ain’t afraid of nothing’ Taylor’s finger and promptly took him down! With Charlie relegated to Daddy’s knee for the next little while, The Entrance took their chance with 4 players on field against our 3 and set to trying to wear us down. Not one to give up, Charlie got back onto the field for the final quarter and supported his exhausted teammates by joining in once more.

Scores simply don’t matter in the Under 5s competition – unless of course we’re winning. So, unfortunately we simply have no recollection of the final result except to say…………..GO TIGERS!!!! <br/ >Written by Jo Forster

Player of the Match Trophy – Charlie Taylor; Pizza Award – Harrison Forster; McDonald’s Sportsperson Award – Grace Tonelli

ROUND #3 (APRIL 27, 2019)
vs THE ENTRANCE

It was looking a little bleak – we had just 4 players and no subs up against the home side at Bateau Bay with 3 subs and a team full of excitable little boys. We weren’t sure what to expect or if we’d even last the distance. We needn’t have been concerned…..we had ‘Amazing Grace’ Tonelli on our side. Her curly blonde locks and pink boots were clearly not matched by either The Entrance nor even her own team! ‘Amazing Grace’ stole the show, goal after goal went into our net straight off of those pink boots with absolute ease and skill. To be fair, the opposition did manage to score two goals against our 8 but one of them was an own goal. The boys ably supported her by chasing and tackling throughout the game and even managed to overcome the opposition’s tricky distraction tactic of tying up a shoelace side of field – a weaker side might have been mesmerized, but not our Tigers!

Amazing Grace had inadvertently left her previous game’s Player of the Match Trophy at home so after that stellar performance it was a no brainer that she keep that for another week. Harrison Forster claimed the Player of the Match Pizza Award and Charlie Taylor the McDonalds Sports Award. Jesse Jones made up the rest of the team on the day and faithfully cheered his team mates being presented. Looking forward to seeing our rested players Ghana Boadu and Jack Skelton next game.
