GAME #11
vs IFS (LOST 3-6)
June 24, 2017
It was great to see Alan Davidson oval open. The team was ready to take on IFS after a feisty match last round. Unfortunately, we again had no subs with Cooper still unable to give the thumbs up and Noah choosing a bucket over footy boots. The team stepped onto the field and today gave it their all. The best game we have seen so far and a smile on Kevin’s face. The first half saw some great defence from Aston, Lian and Alex and some excellent goal keeping from Matthew, keeping the score to 2-0 at half time. After some encouraging words at half-time we kicked it up a notch. Oscar and Louis were relentless in the midfield. Louis stole the ball off IFS just outside the goal box and scored our first goal.
The midfielders, Louis and Oscar passed the ball around well finding feet and causing the other team to panic at times. Michael and Connor on the wing made great runs scaring the defence. This leaves Tommy, his last game he turned up sick and could barely even run. This week he was put in the back line and what a performance it was. The whole team just went back to the basics and it made it hard for IFS to win the ball. The second and third goals were scored by Lian who had found himself in one-on-one situations to then kick the ball passed the keeper with ease.
We came back from 4-0 down to make it 4-3 but the pressure didn’t last long as IFS found a sudden burst of energy and put 2 passed Matthew in a matter of minutes. The fulltime whistle sounded, and the boys were exhausted. This was easily their best performance of the year, so let’s take this quality onto next week!

GAME #6
vs AVOCA (LOST 2-11)
May 13, 2017
We were welcomed back to Alan Davidson for our 3rd home game in a row and the return of ‘Flanno’. The boys turned up early and were excited for kick-off. The opponents were looking fierce when the former Central Coast Mariners player Josh Rose was there scouting players, or just watching his kids. The team received a pep talk pre-kick-off and were pumped up for another game. The referee wandered over after the fast, upbeat warmup of the Wyoming Tigers and got the game underway early.
The game started with captain Michael stepping up for the toss and Avoca winning selecting to run towards the clubhouse end. Tommy and Matthew walked up for the kick-off and to get the game underway. Avoca seemed to be already on the ball with a goal in the first minute of the game. Unfortunately, there goals kept coming, but Oscar and Lian were making good passes and runs while the defence consisting of Noah, Aston and Cooper had to try and deal with the ongoing attacks from the mighty Sharks. Alex stood out as usual between the sticks only to see him and his deadly left-foot return onto the field for the first time since last year. Again, it was much the same with Avoca more aggressive than the young Tigers resulting in a few more goals placed past the newly found keeper in Noah. The was a moment of brilliance when Michael received a ball at his feet that he could tap past the keeper with ease. After the confidence boosting goal, the boys were all over them. This resulted in straight after conceding a goal Tommy passed the ball back to Oscar who laid it into the path of Lian who dribbled past 2 or 3 players to score the 2nd goal for the team. We missed our super sub Louis this week but were thankful for the cheering and encouragement from Connor on the sideline.

GAME #5
vs GOSFORD (LOST 1-4)
May 6, 2017
With the first kick-off at Alan Davidson the boys were primed and ready for our fierce local derby against the high-flying Gosford Dragons. The morning started with a Year 7 PE class warmup, run by Bully, resulting in the boys raring to go. The first half finally got under way and we showed our vast improvement and return of our quality passing game with a few dangerous attacks, keeping the opposition defence on their toes. The Tigers were solid in defence with Cooper, Noah and Aston starting the game strong with good tackles and clearances. Our midfield as always showed strength and accurate passing with quality through balls made by Lian. The other two in the midfield Oscar and Michael made great supporting runs for the two big men upfront Matthew and Tommy. A main talking point in the first half was the perfectly timed substitution made by Bully which saw Louis enter the field and clear a goal bound attacking run. The only goal in the first half came off a corner from Gosford that the opposition managed to scramble past our goalkeeper extraordinaire Alex.
The boys received a word from the coach at half time which pumped them up and prepared them for the second half. They had some unlucky touches and a more aggressive Gosford saw them concede goal. With the great support from our injured Connor on the sideline it helped the boys push on and create an attacking chance which led to a freekick awarded our way in the later stages of the game. Lian stepped up and took the chance with ease placing the ball up and over the wall into the back of the net. The final goal from Gosford saw Alex injured and Louis step into goal. Wyoming fought hard right until the end with the score line not reflecting the closeness of the game. We look towards next week when we take on Avoca.
